This letter of reference is for Melodye Sweetin, with whom I had the privilege of studying.I consider her a truly gifted teacher, with the ability from a lifetime of teaching and riding at the upper levels, to explain dressage concepts in ways that are clear and easy to grasp by riders of all levels. She is equally comfortable working with adult amateurs and young riders, and is gentle and patient. At the same time, she will not compromise her riding standards and puts the welfare of the horse first.
She helped me make significant improvements in my use of weight aids and in improving the quiet and appropriate use of the hand. Her barn management skills are excellent and she is especially knowledgeable in equine nutrition.
Sincerely, Patricia Artimovich Columbia, Maryland

I have had the pleasure of knowing Melodye for several years. She has proven to be an exemplary instructor & trainer, as well as a horseperson of rare insight and capability.
At our farm in Virginia we have warmbloods that we breed, train, and show in various disciplines.
I have had horses in training with Melodye. They always progressed at a pace that was comfortable for them leading to an educated & happy horse.
Melodye has given me riding instruction as well. She has what I call the "Gift of Teaching". She can give very clear explanations & visual aids to help the rider understand . And while she will make you work hard, it's done in a most enjoyable way.
One of her greatest attributes is her love of the horses in her care. She is diligent about maintaining their health, both physically & mentally. I have complete trust in her judgement and great respect for her knowledge.
Melodye is one of very few people I will trust with my horses. She is a delightful, articulate woman who is honest, caring, & hard working. Certainly rare traits in the horse industry, in fact, rare in our society today.
Melodye will be a tremendous asset to anyone who is fortunate enough to benefit from her expertise.

It gives me great pleasure to provide this endorsement for Melodye as a superb riding instructor. Melodye has been my daughters instuctor for both of my daughters fo the past two years. During this time I have watched my daughters grow both as riders and personally under Melodye's expert tutelage.
Melodye shows a deep care & concern for her students and is neither overly harsh when correction is called for, nor hesitant to point out areas of excellence. Her unique instructional style not only allows the student rider to gain the necessary skills, but also facilitates the development of confidence, poise, and the proper physical strengths needed for competitive riding.
Without hesitation I recommend Melodye when an expert instructor is needed, where caring, mentorship, and professionalism are valued.

Melodye Sweetin has been teaching my sixteen year old daughter, Emily, and her six year old horse, Snap, on a weekly basis for the past year. Emily, a member of the Cheshire Pony Club is a C2 rider. Snap had no dressage training when Melodye first started working with him. Although Emily has always made steady progress in her riding, her skills have improved dramatically since she has been working with Melodye. Snap, too, has grown in leaps and bounds. This month, they have successfully competed in a recognized show at First Level. Under Melodye, Emily and Snap understand the basic communication of aids and have a firm foundation to move to much higher levels. Melodye is experienced in all aspects of horse management and is extremely knowledgable about dressage & competition. More importantly, she has that rare quality of being a successful professional who can also teach. Melodye does more than offer an outstanding weekly lesson, she has designed a program of dressage training that is customized for Emily & Snap. Melodye assessed Emily and Snap's strengths as well as areas that needed improvement and developed a plan that has proven to be highly successful. Melodye sets goals and consistently uses positive feedback as well as verbal and visual reminders of progress to date. Since we train at a distant facility, I often stay and quietly watch the lesson. It is a pleasure to watch Melodye, Emily, and Snap work together. It is immediately apparent that Melodye loves teaching young riders. She demands excellence from Emily, but she makes every lesson fun. Melodye is never cross or critical of horse or rider. She is extremely positive and builds confidence in many ways, ending every lesson with a success & praising hard work. I enthusiastically recommend Melodye as a trainer for any rider interested in dressage. Mary Rodger Kennett Square, Pa.
